Woman robbed, sexually assaulted on Near North Side after man forced her into van, Chicago police say

Chicago police are looking for a man who they say sexually assaulted and robbed 37-year-old woman in the Near North neighborhood Saturday morning.

A man forced a woman into his van by claiming to have weapon and robbed, then sexually assaulted her, according to a police community alert.

The attack occurred around 7:10 a.m. after the woman was approached by a white Honda Odyssey minivan as she was walking in the 100 block of East Huron Street.

Police said after the assault the woman was allowed to get out of the van and fled east on Huron.

The attacker was described as a man between 20 and 26 years old with a thin build and about 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-7 inches tall. He had his hair pulled back in a short ponytail and was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.

Anyone with information was asked to call Belmont Area detectives at 312-744-8261.
