A woman was fatally stabbed in her Queens apartment early Thursday — and cops busted her husband who later called 911 admitting to the slaying and threatening to kill himself, according to authorities and police sources.
Cops responded to the apartment on Beach 58th Street near Almeda Avenue in Edgemere around 3:30 a.m., and found Ivette Villar, 43, lying on a bed — unconscious and unresponsive — with stab wounds to her upper torso.
EMS responded and pronounced her dead on the scene.
Villar’s 50-year-old husband, who took off after the slaying in a black Nissan Rogue SUV and drove to East New York, called 911 and confessed that he had stabbed his wife two hours earlier, police sources said.
He also threatened to commit suicide, according to the sources.
He was in custody Thursday morning, and charges are pending.
Next-door neighbor Crystal Rodriguez, 24, called the crime shocking and said she’d never noticed any problems with the couple.
“Mom and dad, older son living there,” she said. “I never heard any arguing, I was confused when I heard what happened. The walls are real thin. The other night they were playing music, but last night, I heard nothing! Not until the cops were here. It was weird! I heard no screaming or fighting from their apartment, ever.”
Another neighbor, David Howell, 25, said he only woke up when he heard cops banging on the door.
“I woke up when the cops were banging on the door,” he said. “I heard the battering ram! Then they used that breach or ram thing to open a door in the back of the apartment.”
“Crazy that it happened with them!” he added. “There are others here you’d expect trouble, but not them. You never hear anything from their place. You can hear upstairs and downstairs apartments. They moved in 2010 or 2011. Nice people, compared to others here.”
