Senator Kamala Harris shared the video of Joe Biden letting her know that he had chosen her as his running mate on her social media yesterday.

As a part of the post, the senator included a clip of herself speaking about the values that her mother instilled in her. She further spoke about her mother encourage her and her sister to work for justice. If they were to see something that they believed to be unfair, her mother would ask her, “What are you going to do about it?”

This impacted her so much, Harris states, that when she saw that the justice system was broken, she decided to become an attorney.

She said that she fights to represent people that “politicians often overlook or don’t take seriously.”

“America is in crisis,” Harris said. “And I know Joe Biden will lead us out of it.”

“As Joe says, we are in a battle for the soul of this nation. But together, it’s a battle we can win.”

Biden was mocked yesterday for using a script as he spoke to Harris. Reporters noticed that a piece of paper in front of him had words written on it which read, “I’ve decided I would like you to join this effort to win back the soul of our country and be our nation’s next vice president,” the text reads. “I think you are entitled to know why I chose you.”

The use of the script became fodder for conservative news media who called his using notes “an embarrassment.”

Still, Senator Harris was beaming as she accepted the offer to potentially become the first African American and the first woman to become the vice-president of the United States.
