Illinois coronavirus graphs: 7,099 deaths, 149,432 confirmed cases, 1.84 million tests, 4.26% positivity rate for Chicago area

Illinois announced 36 new deaths from COVID-19 Wednesday as well as 980 new confirmed cases.

The total of new confirmed cases is the highest in more than a month, since 1,156 new cases were announced June 5.

New daily cases were averaging notably higher in early June than they are now in Illinois. The average number of daily new cases for the three days before and the three days after June 5 is 1,026, while the average new cases for the last week is 774.

Still, the 980 new cases reported Wednesday continue the recent uptick Illinois has seen for the last three weeks.

Also announced were the results of 32,742 tests. Daily test results had dropped below 30,000 a day for the last three days before exceeding the bench mark again Wednesday.
