Erin Andrews and Richard Sherman embraced the past Sunday while celebrating the present moment.
Following the 49ers’ NFC Championship Game victory over the Packers, Andrews and Sherman hugged it out on the field, exactly six years after the then-Seahawks cornerback blasted former San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree in a now-infamous interview with the Fox Sports reporter.
“6 years to the day! Congrats @rsherman25 and see you in Miami!! @49ers #49ersfaithful #ForeverLinked #BestCBinthegame #CoolestMomentInMyCareer #49ers #LOB,” Andrews captioned the photos on Instagram, appearing to reference the Seahawks’ “Legion of Boom” with the “LOB” hashtag.
While speaking with Sherman after the 2013 NFC Championship Game, the five-time Pro Bowler called himself the “best corner” in the game. Sherman had deflected a pass that led to an interception by linebacker Malcolm Smith. He and the Seahawks went on to defeat the Peyton Manning-led Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII.
In 2018, Sherman was released by the Seahawks and soon agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract with Seattle’s NFC West rival.
As for Andrews, she and the Fox team will be covering Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 2.
