Chicago police officer shot in Lawndale, police say

A Chicago police officer was shot early Wednesday, according to Chicago police.

An Ogden District officer was shot on the West Side and taken to Mt. Sinai Medical Center, according to Chicago police. The officer’s condition is not yet known.

The shooting occurred near 13th Street and Lawndale Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood.

The Chicago Fire Department transported the officer to Mt. Sinai at 3:40 a.m., according to CFD spokesman Larry Merritt. The officer is a male and his condition was stabilized.
