Carrie Underwood is gearing up for the holidays with a new Christmas special at HBO Max. The special event will see the country star perform songs from her first-ever Christmas album, My Gift, which debuts on CD and digital this Friday, September 25.

According to a press release from HBO Max, Underwood will perform with a live orchestra and choir as she performs “a combination of beloved traditional favorites celebrating her faith and the spiritual nature of the holiday, as well as new original material from the highly anticipated album.” If you’re interested in a musical-themed stocking stuffer, Underwood’s My Gift will be available on vinyl October 30.

Underwood’s holiday special is currently scheduled to shoot this fall ahead of a holiday season release. The HBO Max event will be executive produced by Gary Goetzman and Tom Hanks (yes, that Tom Hanks) for Playtone alongside Underwood and her manager, Ann Edelblute.

“Carrie Underwood is a multi-faceted talent and we are thrilled to be partnering with her and our friends at Playtone to bring a dose of holiday cheer,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for HBO Max, in a statement.

“The journey of writing and recording this album started last year when I finished my tour and we could have never anticipated the circumstances we would be in this year,” added Underwood. “Creating this album has been good for my heart and I’m thrilled to get to share it with the world and to bring it to life with Playtone and HBO Max.”

Underwood is the latest music star to lend her talents to a holiday special. Last year, fellow country darling Kacey Musgraves released The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show on Amazon Prime Video (a follow-up of her 2016 special A Very Kacey Christmas), and in 2018, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen released NBC variety special, A Legendary Christmas.
