3 people shot on Gold Coast commercial street

Three people were shot and wounded Tuesday afternoon on a Gold Coast street known for its high-end retailers, a Fire Department spokesman said.

Fire Department ambulances responded to the first block of East Oak Street around 4:30 p.m. for a report of three people shot, said fire spokesman Larry Merritt.

Two people were taken in serious-to-critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and/a third person was taken to Amita St. Joseph Hospital, Merritt said.

The block where the shooting happened, between Michigan Avenue and Rush Street, is well-known for its clothing boutiques and other high-end retail, including several jewelry stores.
